Carrot custard kheer /carrot payasam



                         


Here is a recipe of delicious dessert made out of carrots & custard,with the ingredients always we have in our home. custard pudding is familiar to everyone but this makes a variety when carrots are added to it.Mostly kids are carrot lovers ,so obviously this dessert is their favourite too.
I remember this recipe was taken from my
aunt when i had some crave for sweet , and it was truly awesome &much satisfied...And also this is a lifesaver recipe whenever you have a sudden planning for guests or party...Because we don't need to spend hours in kitchen for this.Trust me you will love this, because i got appreciated by all my guest who have tasted this ....

Ingredients :

  • carrot - 2 medium sized
  • milk - 4 cups
  • custard powder - 2 tblspn
  • sugar - 4 -5 tblspn 
  • condensed milk - 1/4 cup
  • vanilla essence - 1tsp (optional)
  • ghee/butter - 2-3 tblspn 
  • cashewnuts chopped - 2 tblspn
Method  :

  1. Grate the carrots and keep aside. Take a pan and add ghee / butter ,roast nuts for 2 minutes.                                                                                                                                                          
  2. Add grated carrot into it & saute well on medium flame until the raw smell goes.                                                                                                                                                              
  3. Add condensed milk & mix well .when it combines well & soft turn off the flame and keep it aside to cool.                                                                                                                   
  4. Meanwhile pour milk in bottom thick vessel and keep for boiling.Take out little milk from this in a bowl and make a smooth mixture adding custard pwd and keep aside.                                                                                       
  5. Add sugar to the boiling milk, when milk starts to boil reduce flame to simmer and stir constantly for few seconds .You can also add condensed milk to give an extra taste.                                                                
  6. Gradually add custard mixture to the milk stirring constantly and let it boil for 2 minutes. Turn off the flame and our custard is ready...You can also add vanilla essence for flavour and it's optional.                                                                                                         
  7. Let the custard cools at room temperature ,then mix carrot into custard.Make sure there is no lumps in it.                                     Refrigerate and serve chilled.....
